5 Questions with @kagontow

Sitting 2nd on the UConn leaderboard at the time of publishing, Kagontow has undoubtedly proven his fandom of the Huskies. An alum and die-hard supporter, Kagontow has lived through many memorable moments with the team and is gearing up for another run in the tournament. We sat down with him for this exclusive Super Fan Spotlight

What classifies you as a UConn Superfan?
I've been a fan of UConn's teams as far back as I can remember, especially the men's basketball team. I even made my decision to attend UConn official after the men beat Syracuse during the Dream Season. I've watched just about every game since mid-80's, even the lean years that test your fandom. Go Huskies!

What's your favorite moment as a fan?
I'm lucky in that there have been many great moments, but I will never forget the feeling when the clock ran out and UConn won its first men's basketball NCAA championship in 1999. After a period of time where they were annually in the Big East basement, it was so amazing to see them win it all, especially after seeing some great teams before them fall short in the tournament.

What's the best game (in any sport) you've ever attended for your team?
1991 UConn over Georgetown (with Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo) at the Hartford Civic Center, which was so loud it was shaking. Great team win. Yankees 2001 wins over Mariners to clinch ALCS and Diamondbacks to go up 3-2 in the World Series were also incredible games.

What's the craziest thing you've ever done as a fan?
I am conscious of where/how I'm watching UConn. If they are losing, I have to change things up (I'll stand if I was sitting, change rooms, whatever helps.) If they are winning, I'll stay in the exact same position and note for the next game. I don't believe this actually works, however, what if it does...

What's the most memorable fan item you've ever spent money on?
I'll buy stuff (shirts, mouse pad, etc.) after every NCAA championship to commemorate the experience.
